Kh. Mahfuz-ud-darain was born in 1975 in Kushtia, a district/city of Bangladesh.

After completing the Higher Secondary Examination he was admitted in Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), formerly known as Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT), Rajshahi, Bangladesh and achieved Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2000. After Graduation, he joined a renowned Architectural Consulting and Developers’ farm named Suvastu Developments, Ltd, Bangladesh. In 2002, he joined Architecture discipline of Khulna University as a lecturer where hisprime responsibility was to conduct theory and sessional courses related to structural engineering and other Civil Engineering courses. He received the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship and enrolled the SAHC Masters Course during the 2007/2008 academic year. After finishing the Masters Course, he joined his previous University at the same position of teaching and research faculty. Now he is responsible for the Civil Engineering theory and sessional courses along with some research activities related to the conservation works.
