Mekonnen Degefa Abo was born in 1969 in Ethiopia.

He is a Civil Engineer since July 1992, after graduating from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Afterwards he worked as a lecturer and sporadic local construction consultancy for 15 years in the design of buildings and infra- structures. He holds a Master Degree on Structural engineering from Addis Ababa University since 2005. He enrolled the SAHC Masters Course during the 2007/2008 academic year. Since 2009 Mekonnen Degefa Abo works in GIBB Africa in Nairobi, KENYA, where he is responsible for the design, review and checking of existing old structures as well as new structures.
