Smaragda Antoniou was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1982.

She studied at the Department of Civil Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She graduated in 2008. During the 2008/2009 academic year she enrolled the SAHC Master Course. She completed the coursework in Technical University of Catalonia in Barcelona and her thesis in University of Padova. Since 2009 she works in Thessaloniki in the field of design and construction of buildings.
