Thomas Morrison did his engineering undergraduate education in civil engineering at McGill University.

Following this he worked with a fire protection engineering firm, and enrolled in the SAHC Masters Course 07/08 (first edition).  Work was then found with a small structural consulting firm, but soon moved to the Heritage Conservation Directorate (HCD) for work.  HCD is a centre of expertise on heritage restoration with the government of Canada; this work opportunity that would not have come about without the SAHC course.  However, after determining that government work was not well suited to Tom, he enrolled in a PhD program at McGill University to better equip himself as an expert in the field of existing and heritage interventions.  His current PhD research is looking at seismic performance of existing steel structures (built pre 1965), and use of a ring fuse for energy dissipation.
