I joined the SAHC Master with a strong interest in historic structures and conservation, but the programme broadened my perspective and taught me how to approach highly complex problems. The Integrated Project (SA7) was one of the most valuable parts for me, as it closely simulated a real professional project, bringing together investigation, assessment, analysis and intervention proposals. I also had the chance to learn from leading experts in the field and professors from universities across the consortium, each bringing their own perspectives and experience. My thesis, under the guidance of Professor Paulo Lourenço, allowed me to explore a less conventional direction within heritage conservation by using AI for damage segmentation.

Beyond the academic side, it was a real rollercoaster of a year. Living in Guimarães, visiting heritage sites across Portugal and Spain, and everything that happened inside and outside the classroom made it an experience I will always remember. Most importantly, I came away with a close knit group of friends and a lasting professional network.
